Mississippi Veterans Memorial Stadium has been a house of horrors for the FAMU fan, and in all honesty Jackson State has been a boogy man for the FAMU Fan.

The 2025 contest was an indictment on the football program that reigns fresh in the minds of all who were in Bragg Stadium and the failures of the 2024 contest in Thee Vet also reminds many FAMU faithful of how close this game was.

The hope this year is that FAMU will not only challenge Jackson State but will find a way to turn this House of Horrors upside down.

Last year saw Alabama State finally get over the FAMU sized hump in the schedule in a very lopsided victory over the home Rattlers.

This year's battle has Alabama State sitting again near the top of the SWAC’s preseason polls and expecting to again make a run for the SWAC title.

But here come the Rattlers who seemingly have nothing to play for but everything to gain. The Rattlers get the opportunity to ruin homecoming and preserve the winning streak that has been established in the GUMP.

Alabama A&M and Florida A&M University is not a rivalry of any sort, especially on the football field. This is largely because the Bulldogs have yet to defeat the Rattlers since the two have been in the SWAC.

Well this year the teams meet again with the hopes that we will see more of the same.

But Alabama A&M has a veteran QB that is returning and a 2nd year head coach all while FAMU looks very brand new.

But by this point in the Season FAMU will know what they have and who they are.

FAMU Fans had all of less than half of a week to be upset about the Football teams Preseason rankings before news that FAMU came to an agreement with the University of Georgia that cancelled a potential $650,000 pay day.

This at a time when the Athletic department is on a Strike tour and the very same athletic department is asking fans to contribute for the purchase of basketball uniforms.

While some are angry about the loss exposure, the bigger issue is lost revenue at a time when multiple fund raising opportunities are all circling around the beginning of Football Season.
