Nowadays, she is a commentator at some of the world’s top tournaments as well as an ambassador to have more females into chess and to use chess as a tool for education.

  • Harika Dronavalli: I know that I did my best when it was needed

    Harika  Dronavalli carries the grandmaster title and has a current rating of 2507, placing her #12 in the women's ranking list. She won three bronze medals at the Women’s World Chess Championship, in 2012, 2015 and 2017. Her recent achievement was winning the bronze medal with the Indian women’s team at the Olympiad in their home country. As if not impressive enough on its own, Harika played in the Olympiad during her ninth month of pregnancy and gave birth to a baby girl just two weeks after. She presented her country in numerous Chess Olympiads and Championships and the highlight of her career was an individual gold medal at the 2006 Turin Olympiad. Since 2010 Fiona carries the title of woman international master. She attends tournaments as a player, but also as a commentator, press officer and part of the media team.   • Hou Yifan: ”There are a lot of more things that we could do for women’s chess in the future”

    Hou Yifan is a four-time Women's World Chess Champion, and the second-highest-rated female player of all time (only behind Judit Polgar). A former prodigy, she was the youngest female player ever to qualify for the title of grandmaster and the youngest ever to win the Women's World Chess Championship. In 2019, she decided to focus on her studies, after being granted a Rhodes Scholarship by Oxford University. Hou is now a Professor at the Physical Education Department of Shenzhen University, where once again, she set a new precocity record by becoming the youngest full Professor in the history of the institution at 26 years old.
