  • Be Careful When You Say "Bhaiya Diet Plan de do" | Ep. #001

    In the time of social media, things get really confusing around nutrition and fitness as a lot of content is floating around. It is difficult to decide what to follow.  When you finally decide to lose weight, you go to your gym coach and ask for a diet plan. They share a random diet plan with you without considering the "n" number of things. I am not saying that everyone does this. But so far in my experience, I have seen this happening in many gyms. They lack a personalized approach.


    It is an approach that helps everyone to reach the health condition to which they individually aspire. Personalized nutrition makes healthy dietary suggestions more relevant to the daily life of the individual. Suggested changes to dietary patterns are therefore MORE effective and lasting.


    Signs of a personalized diet plan: 


    - Your diet history (it should not contain very abrupt changes, it should allow you to transition from your previous dietary habits to healthy ones) 


    - They provide macro distribution (protein, carbs, and fats) 

    1 gm of fat - 9 calories

    1 gm of protein - 4 calories

    1 gm of carb - 4 calories


    - They provide quantified nutrition (with the mention of calories and how much to eat) 

    E.g. If you want to eat poha, the plan should consider: 

    Raw poha (40 gm)

    Peanuts (20 gm)

    Raw potato (100 gm)

    Green veggies (50 gm) 


    -The plan is customizable 

    It should consider your dietary preferences including what type of food you can eat, any limitations, the number of meals you consume in a day, etc. 


    A diet plan is not a one-time thing where they share it with you on the first day of the gym and you follow that "forever". To make sure you achieve your goals, one most important thing for a coach to do is that they do regular follow-ups (every 7-10 days), so the adjustments can be made in calories/macros based on the progress if needed.  


    What most people don't realize is that everyone is different. Your body is not static and changes over time. Your diet needs to be monitored and adjusted regularly if you want to keep seeing results.
