This beach is a crime scene… but thanks to Marc Davis, we have enough evidence to solve the crime.

On this episode of Distory with Kate & Kirk, we slide down into the ghostly grotto to explore Dead Man's Cove and Hurricane scenes in depth. Along the way, we take the microscope to the history of this iconic scene to explain what actually happened to the pirates, identify some sea critters and plant life, and explore the creative process that brought us to the final version using rare Imagineering documents, concept art, and never-used (but recorded) audio tracks.

Kate checked out Marc Davis’s 1951 library books to identify a source of inspiration, Kirk takes us on a journey through shipwrecks and crabs, and we both have some questions about what ACTUALLY happened to the real human remains from 1967 after they left the attraction… including some evidence that a story commonly told may not be entirely true.

What happened to the fireflies in Pirates of the Caribbean? Has the old man always lived in the bayou? And who is Charles T., anyway?
