Hello and welcome to Confessions of a Disorderly Saint: A Queer Catholic Podcast! Are you struggling to reconcile your Catholic faith with your sexual orientation? You’re not alone. This podcast explores the tension between LGBTQ+ identity and Catholicism. Hosted by John Mark, it covers Scripture, dogma, conscience, doctrine, personal testimony, and more. This is not an anti-Catholic podcast, but I will discuss non-traditional interpretations of Scripture and argue for the evolution of moral doctrine on sexuality. God made you this way; sexuality is a gift that enables you to express love.John Mark Christentum Spiritualität
  • 03: Un-clobbering Leviticus 18:22 and 20:13 on Homosexuality
    Jun 22 2025

No two passages in the Bible are wielded more often to condemn homosexuality than Leviticus 18:22 and 20:13. But what do these verses actually say in context? Are they condemning all same-sex relationships—or something else entirely, like incest, pederasty, or ritual sex tied to pagan worship?

In this episode, we explore how Scripture itself invites deeper reflection. We’ll examine Isaiah 43 and 56, Acts 10, and Jesus’s own words in the Gospels to ask how we should understand Levitical law today—and what it means to follow a God who is always doing something new.

  • 02: Deconstructing the Catechism's Doctrine on Homosexuality
    Jun 14 2025

Welcome to Confessions of a Disorderly Saint: A Queer Catholic Podcast! If you are struggling to reconcile your sexuality with your Catholic faith, you are not alone.

Today, I want to begin our journey of deconstructing the catechism's teaching on homosexuality by sharing with you an article titled "A House Divided." This article masterfully breaks down the contradictions and incoherent theology surrounding this issue. What does it mean for queer Catholics?

  • 01: Jonathan and David
    Jun 7 2025

Welcome to Confessions of a Disorderly Saint: A Queer Catholic Podcast! If you have struggled to reconcile your sexual orientation with the Catholic faith, you are not alone.

In this first episode, I want to delve into an Old Testament passage that is frequently overlooked—the story of Jonathan and David. This unusual relationship between two men in the Old Testament could be interpreted in multiple ways. Is this just a deep spiritual friendship, or is it something more intimate? What about Ruth and Naomi?

    Scripture references:

    1 Samuel 18:1–4; 19:1–3; 20:4, 17, 40–42,

    Ruth 1:14, 1:16

    Catechism references:

    CCC 1790

    CCC 2414

    CCC 2267
