This month, on 14 February, we have started the Lenten season with the rite of Ashes on Ash Wednesday. You are all invited to commit to pray, fasting and involvement in charity. We learn from our Master who went about doing good to people. He gave sight to the blind, healed the sick and fed the hungry. In Mark 12:41-44 and in Luke 21:1-4 Jesus Christ praised the widow for giving all that she had, highlighting the sacrificial nature of true charity. May this year’s Lenten season make us true followers of our Lord Jesus Christ, emulating his love for the poor and the downtrodden.

There are calls and reports of plans to table a bill restricting maximum age limit for one to stand as a presidential candidate in Malawi. It is rumored that Hon. Nankhumwa MP. and other quarters are supporting the Idea. Does an age limit need to be set for presidential candidates, MPs, Councilors? Why?
