“bad guy” was written by Billie Eilish and Finneas O’Connell and produced by Finneas. It is the fifth single from Eilish’s first studio album When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? After waiting patiently at #2 behind "Old Town Road" for nine weeks, "bad guy" finally toppled Lil Nas X's record-breaking song to reach #1. In doing so, it broke the record for the longest a song spent in the runner-up position before climbing to the summit. On reaching the top of the Hot 100, Eilish became the first artist born in the 2000s to have a #1 hit. “bad guy” won Song of the Year at the 2020 Grammy Awards. Eilish also won Best New Artist and When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? won Album of the Year. Finneas won Producer of the Year.
