Frances Schoonmaker is Professor Emerita at Teachers College, Columbia University, where she directed the graduate-level childhood education program and helped prepare generations of future educators, often through the power of children’s literature and storytelling. Her career spans decades in the classroom, both as a teacher and teacher educator, and through her work, she has taught and consulted across the globe, with a special focus on the Middle East and Asia.As an award-winning author, our guest has brought her deep understanding of history and humanity to the page with The Last Crystal Trilogy, a fantasy adventure that spans from the Santa Fe Trail to World War II. Her more recent historical fiction series began with Sid Johnson and the Phantom Slave Stealer, and the second book in the series, Sid Johnson and the Well-Intended Conspiracy, came out in January 2024.
