• The Importance of Small Steps
    Feb 20 2026

I am sharing this one again to remind myself and others that life is a marathon, not a sprint. We often want to get things done quickly and see progress happen fast, especially when we have a clear vision of where we want to be; but the small steps in the journey matter too. Small steps help us to carry others along, make sure we are looking after other aspects of our lives and build character that sustains us in the 'promised land'. This is also a good one for parents and managers to remember when we are supporting people around us to grow. Have a great weekend! Afiniki.co.uk

  • Focus on the Good
    Feb 13 2026

It is the end of January and it can be easy to start feeling low about things that might not have had a great start this year. Please remember that there are other things that will have gone well, and it is our choice to decide what to focus on. We can put in more effort to improve the areas we are struggling in, but focusing on the good also helps us to remain grateful and hopeful. Please feel free to share your thoughts on Afiniki.co.uk. Have a good weekend!

  • "Too much load to carry" - my chat with the coolest primary school boys
    Feb 6 2026

This episode was fun to record with my 9-year-old son, David, and his 10-year-old friend, Marcus. Of course, we talked about games, sport and happiness. You might want to listen to my chat with their older sisters, which was shared last week, and let me know which one was better, so we can invite them again. There is so much we can learn by talking openly with our children. Please feel free to share your thoughts at Afiniki.co.uk

  • "Don't get kidnapped!" - my chat with Sophie and Amelia
    Jan 30 2026

I had some serious and funny moments talking with Amelia and Sophie who are currently in British secondary schools. The girls kindly agreed (with much persuasion) to share their thoughts on happiness over stress. You might want to send me some parenting advice and thoughts from your teenagers after listening to this one! Have a great weekend - Afiniki.co.uk

  • Respect is Earned
    Jan 16 2026

Do you ever feel frustrated about not getting the respect and value you feel you deserve? It can be easy to think that some things come automatically with certain positions or titles, but that is not true. Some people get respect on the first day of a job because they earned it with their track record, while others have to earn it through diligence and excellence - remember to enjoy it humbly when you get there. We should treat everyone with kindness and honour, but only those who are deserving will get respect. Do you agree? Afiniki.co.uk

  • Romans 8 song
    Jan 8 2026

I chose happiness over stress by asking my daughter to make my favourite scripture into a song (on LyricsIntoSong.com) to make it easier for me to learn it. I used NIV, CEV and KJV versions of the Bible. As AI is not perfect, I think some of the section below might have been missed out. Just sharing it, for anyone who loves Romans 8 too!

Romans 8:18-25 - For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us. For the creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the sons of God. For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of him who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to corruption and obtain the freedom of the glory of the children of God. For we know that the whole creation has been groaning together in the pains of childbirth until now. And not only the creation, but we ourselves, who have the first fruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies. For in this hope we were saved. Now hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for what he sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience.
