Amidst the galaxy-wide war of the Great Crusade, the Emperor castigates the Word Bearers for their worship.

Distraught at this judgement, Lorgar and his Legion seek another path while devastating world after world, venting their fury and fervour on the battlefield. Their search for a new purpose leads them to the edge of the material universe, where they meet ancient forces far more powerful than they could have imagined.

Having set out to illuminate the Imperium, the corruption of Chaos takes hold, and their path to damnation begins. Unbeknownst to the Word Bearers, their quest for truth contains the very roots of heresy.

Honestly, I read the book around 2015 and now listened to it 9 years later. What an outstanding masterpiece goes in line with the best books in the entire series, including Siege of Terra. Read it! Now! ❤️

Outstanding Plot

Dembski-Bowden once again proves why he is one of the best black library authors.
The story flows well, the characters are likeable and in the end on can truly sympathize with the Word Bearers.
The First Heretic is simply a good book.

Best book in the entire Heresy

Coś poszło nie tak. Spróbuj ponownie za kilka minut.
The principal story is epic and presented in a captivating way. Voice acting was superb, especially with the deviant characters. Where the book misses it's chances are in my opinion the side characters. While they are introduced as interesting personas they ultimately are leading nowhere satisfying in the finale.

Strong plot and missed chances

Mixed feelings, betrayal, loyalty, honor, hatred, lies, truth.

The characters and the story made me sad, laughing, grinning, filled me with hate and sorrow. Brilliant
