The story nail biting and thrilliing. The narrator Imogen Church did an absolutely incredible Job performing the story. Highly recommended.

Best Ruth Ware book so far

Thrilling, heart breaking, convincing story and characters every step of the way. It's hard to decide, which of Ruth Wade's novels is the best, they're all amazing, but as for me, this one is my favorite.

... und die Sprecherin chargiert etwas zu sehr. Ich hatte es von anderen Hörbüchern wieder verdrängt: Imogen Church hängt sich so richtig rein in ihre Rollen, aber hier wird es ein bisschen viel. Gutterales Gestöhne, jedes Mal, wenn die Protagonistin über ihren toten Mann spricht. Und das ist sehr oft. Etwas dezenter wäre besser, so denkt man selbst als mitfühlender Mensch irgendwann "Ist gut jetzt!".
Bei der Story geht es mir ähnlich. Das "Warum und Wer" ist relativ leicht zu erraten, es zieht sich aber unglaublich hin. Dazwischen wieder sehr viel Gejammere und Gestöhne, alles sehr repetitiv. Die Figuren wirken auch wie alle schon mal irgendwo anders gesehen und sehr stereotyp.
Absolut nicht mein Lieblingsbuch von Ruth Ware, die anderen fand ich wesentlich besser.

Ruth Ware is an amazing writer, she has a very unique style of getting into people's minds and staying there throughout a complete book.
Imogen Church doesn't just narrate, she lives the story.
This combination makes for very great audiobooks.
But this one is just too much. Every situation is being dragged out, and on top of it each thought is being repeated 29 times. The obvious facts are being stated over and over again and the protagonist is incredibly naive. In some situations there is no drama at all, but it is made up in order to fill pages it seems.
Takes the reader/ listener a few moments to figure out who killed the victim, but Ruth Ware puts us through hours of so called recognition... and when Jack figures out what happened she doesn't have the brains to secure that evidence. Honestly? I would frame her too. She does deserve it for being so stupid.
Throwing a person into the mix that no one could possibly like and then going for the most likely perpetrator is as plump as it gets.
All in all: some times less can be more.
4 hours of a great Ruth Ware would have held more quality than this elongated over-emotional howling.
