The story line has nothing more to be said, the narrative and the narrator are brilliant and make the entire listening experience super!

I admire Hilary for her good work and research. For all who wanted to make a footstep to the Tudortimes, is this book a very good start. The book is well written and the reader is fantastic! (I have heard this book more than once, first in German now in english. Ben Miles pronunciation is so good, that not native speakers will understand mostley every word). Thank you and r.i.p. Hilary!!

Excellent reader, but with all the different characters and unclear storyline it was rather tiresome to listen to.
If one is very au fait with historical events it is probably an easier listen.

Totally captivating. Hilary Mantel‘s storytelling and Ben Miles‘ fantastic performance drew me into the life of this remarkable politician.

Ben Miles does a fantastic job. He gives each character their own distinct voice with such ease and flair that you forget it’s one person reading. He renders Hiliry Miller’s magnificent prose palpable, and leaves space for the unspoken. And not last but not least I’m never in doubt who “he” is, when Cromwell is speaking, the voice is indication enough, Something that in the book at times can be confusing.
