This book was a recommendation I wasn't so sure about but I'm happy to be proven wrong. A sizzling romance with heavy references to the Greek tale of Hades and Persephone. Characters who are refreshingly realistic and make you want more.

I liked this book a lot more than part one of the series (the hunter).

It seems more realistic than "the hunter". I still rolled my eyes at some of the dramatics, but isn't that part of the charm of these kind of books. Laughing, rolling ones eyes and maybe even getting teary sometimes.

Another thing I like about these kind of romance books is knowing how the story will end, only trying to figure out how this inevitable ending will come to be. For this middle part I was surprised at some of the very serious topics the book touched.

As I just listened to the book for the second time and even though I knew what was going to happen, still couldn't stop listening to "Kills/Hubs" and "flovergirls" story, I would definitely recommend this (audio)book.

Cillian has me in a chokehold. He is flawless while being perfectly flawed. I loved his and Persy‘s relationship, how he tried to control himself around her and failing miserably all the same. It was so delicious and the spicy scenes were brilliant if rare. Just. Read this book. Fall in love with the villain.

Der Titel „The Villain“ ließ mich einen starken, moralisch ambivalenten männlichen Protagonisten erwarten, der die Welt in Flammen setzen würde, um die weibliche Figur zu beschützen. Wer das sucht, ist hier sowas von falsch. Der MMC ist ein Soziopath, im klinischen Sinn. Er lässt es wissend und emotionslos zu, dass die FMC verletzt wird. Bis zum Schluss zeigt der MMC kaum eine Entwicklung. Die FMC wirkt hingegen wie ein Traumaopfer. Ihre Liebe zu ihm wird nicht erklärt, sie war einfach immer schon da und sie lässt sich (deshalb) durchgehend schlecht von ihm behandeln. Die FMC ist schwach und naiv. Ich finde die Geschichte wirklich fragwürdig! Die Sprecher sind fantastisch. Jacob Morgan dürfte mir auch das Handbuch der Mikrowelle vorlesen und er war der einzige Grund, weshalb ich das Buch nicht abgebrochen habe.
