Beim Hören auf Autofahrten wollen wir garnicht ans Ziel kommen. Sind so gefesselt, dass wir am von Stuttgart bis Hamburg fahren würden, obwohl wir nur bis Frankfurt fahren müssen.

Langsamkeit und Spirit im Wechsel mit Turns der Lawer und dem Chaos der Hinterbliebenen, sowie die großartige Erzählung über den Pantanal, breathtaking von Anfang bis Ende der Plot - ein weiteres Kunststück(!) von John Grisham, mit tiefen Einblicken in die Welt von Geld und Konsum; dazu vorgetragen von einem brillianten Sprecher!

Story und Art des Erzählens, besonders über Leben und Natur im Pantanal

I am not sure what I expected when I bought this audiobook, but I am sure it was not this. The whole story is that of a quest. A disshevelled lawyer, no longer successful, travels through the Pantanal to find the heiress of a huge fortune. In the end, however, the protagonist realises that his whole quest is more a spiritual one. That is more or less it. A whole bunch of thoroughly unlikable would-be-heirs is portraited nicely, though, and the whole story is read well, but it is far from exciting and the end was a bit disappointing (despite it being inevitable). I still have troubles believing that this was indeed a John Grisham book, even though there is a lawyer in it. So, if you are after dramatic court hearings or breathtaking thrills, look elsewhere.
