When Sheriff Bud Shumway’s aunt and uncle invite him and his wife to join them for a vacation in beautiful Glacier National Park, he has no idea that he'll soon be on a search for their daughter, the same cousin Bud went to high school with and who everyone called the Jewel of the Desert. Being Bud, he doesn’t let that stop him, and when his uncle also goes missing, Bud soon finds himself trekking through some of the wildest and most remote mountains in the Lower 48, a landscape filled with grizzly bears, sudden blizzards, thru-hikers, wiener dogs, aquatic entomologists, mysterious Red Bus jammers, and Flat-Earthers, far from Bud’s comfort zone in his quiet little desert town of Green River, Utah, all while trying to unravel the mystery of the Ghost of the Weeping Wall, as well as meeting up with a few ghosts of his own.
