Set in the 1930s, this novel describes how Linda, the daughter of a Lord, dreams of true love and romance but ends up finding it in the wrong place. She starts with marriage to a dull banker, moves on to a revolutionary in the Spanish civil war until finally finding love - surprisingly and unsuitably - in Paris. Bubbly writing and one can imagine what a stir this caused upon its publication since many characters were based on the author, her sisters and their others halves. The depiction of the parents are particularly amusing.
