Inhaltsangabe

I have stolen princesses back from sleeping barrow kings. I burned down the town of Trebon. I have spent the night with Felurian and left with both my sanity and my life. I was expelled from the university at a younger age than most people are allowed in. I tread paths by moonlight that others fear to speak of during day. I have talked to Gods, loved women, and written songs that make the minstrels weep.

My name is Kvothe. You may have heard of me.

So begins the tale of Kvothe - currently known as Kote, the unassuming innkeeper - from his childhood in a troupe of travelling players, through his years spent as a near feral orphan in a crime riddled city, to his daringly brazen yet successful bid to enter a difficult and dangerous school of magic.

In these pages you will come to know Kvothe the notorious magician, the accomplished thief, the masterful musician, the dragon-slayer, the legend hunter, the lover, the thief and the infamous assassin.

The Name of the Wind is fantasy at its very best.

Read by Rupert Degas.

Audio: aac, 22050 Hz, stereo, 62 kb/s - Normal wäre: 44100 Hz, stereo, 125 kb/s

The Name of the Wind ist eins der besten Fantasybücher der letzen 20 Jahre.
B. beim Song of Ice and Fire deutlich besser.
Genug geschrieben - Day 2 wartet.

Rather boring

After raving reviews on some social media I was expecting a very special new fantasy world, but was sorely disappointed.
The world building wasn't anything that hasn't been done in various classics like LOTR etc.
The hero, although supposedly incredibly clever, was neither interesting nor likeable. Most relevant characters were male, and the female characters lacked definition.
The whole story went on and on without getting more exciting, and the intervowen love story didn't manage to make the whole thing more interesting. The main love interest was supposed to be mysterious and amazingly beautiful, but just managed to seem annoying.
The reader although excellent at accents, tended to be sloppy with his endings, which was almost unbearable.
All in all not a very enjoyable listening experience. I kept hoping it would be getting better, but gave up at the third part.

Original take on Story telling

Loved the idea of the protagonist being a master story teller! It checks all the other boxes too.

I loved every second of it

A beautifully written book which ist read very well by Rupert Degas. It never gets old to listen to Kvothe tell his story in such a empathic way , that you can’t help but feel the things he feels.

The most awesome story ever

Welchen drei Worte würden für Sie The Name of the Wind treffend charakterisieren?

i am speechless. Both the author and the speaker are phenomenal.

Welches andere Buch würden Sie mit The Name of the Wind vergleichen? Warum?

Ich would compare it with Lord of the Rings or Game of Thrones, but better.

Welche Szene hat Ihnen am besten gefallen?

Everything is great, some parts greater

Hat dieses Hörbuch Sie emotional stark bewegt? Mussten Sie laut z.B. lachen, weinen, zweifeln, etc.?

I did get quiet emotional, you really end up rooting for Kvothe

The thrid part has no been released and since Mr. Rothfuss is taking his time (not judging) it can be frusterating to come to an end and not know whats going to happen. i just hope i get to hear it before i die.

the best fantasy story around

"The name of the wind" is a story that is without any doubt the best I have read/heard in my life. It is told in a beautiful, meandering yet never boring way! Patrick Rothfuss has a talent for words that is just one step away from genius. Not only the way he constructs his story, but the sheer vastness of vocabulary and images he uses to tell it is astounding.
Some may argue that "The name of the wind" is not a typical fantasy story and quite honestly I would agree, take the argument a little further and say that that is one of the reasons that make the book worthwhile. The main character Kvothe, though he posses many extraordinary abilities and is brilliant and wise beyond his years, is merely a human being, with ambitions to attend the university and gather as much knowledge as he possibly can. Bleak as this might sound, the adventures Kvothe lives through on his journey and the lengths he has to overcome are every bit as gripping as any story of a magician coming to terms with his abilities.
I had read the book before I decided to purchase the audio version as well and I was more than a little nervous that a bad narrator might ruin the experience for me. Luckily I was wrong, Rupert Degas does a great job bringing the world of Kvothe and his friends, enemies and love interests to life. His voice is nice to listen to and his interpretation of each of the characters makes it easy to recognise and distinguish them after a short amount of time.
In conclusion, this book is worth every penny and if you're a fantasy fan who is looking for a new world to dive into, a new story to lose themselves to, then this is the book for you!
