Great until the end… then it lost me.

I was really into The House Without a Key for most of the book. The setting was vivid, the mystery kept me hooked, and I genuinely couldn’t wait to find out what happened next.

But the ending? Way too complicated. Suddenly it felt like everyone was somehow involved, and the final twist — that she turned out to be the daughter of the officer who rescued her — just felt totally unnecessary. It didn’t add anything for me, and honestly took away from what had been a really strong story up to that point.

It was a solid 5-star read right until the last stretch, but the ending dragged it down to 3.
