The Doctor resolves to take them hundreds of thousands of years into the future and megaparsecs from the solar system.
While true to the letter of his word he somehow simultaneously covers himself in shame and failure.
From there, misfortune mounts and things rapidly spiral out of control.
If this still seems to be parodying something familiar, which has itself recently suffered a run of bad luck, caused disappointment and spiralled out of control, it probably is.
