    Inhaltsangabe

    Brought to you by Penguin.

Every parent wants their child to be happy and every parent wants to avoid screwing them up. But how do you achieve that?

In this absorbing, clever and funny book, renowned psychotherapist Philippa Perry tells us what really matters and what behaviour it is important to avoid - the vital dos and don'ts of parenting.

Instead of mapping out the 'perfect' plan, Perry offers a big-picture look at the elements that lead to good parent-child relationships. This refreshing, judgement-free book will help you to:

    • Understand how your own upbringing may affect your parenting
    • Accept that you will make mistakes and learn what you can do about them
    • Break negative cycles and patterns
    • Handle your own and your child's feelings
    • Understand what different behaviours communicate

Full of sage and sane advice, this is the book that every parent will want to listen to and every child will wish their parents had.

    nice summary!

I've read other books about parenting and relationships in general, but this one seems to sum up that knowledge and communicate it neatly and effectively.

    Useful, not only to parents

I find this book insightful, a very comprehensive summary of the problems that might arise with parenting and how to deal with them in a nutshell. having read many other books on parenting I cannot find a better word, as this is really a summary, but indeed a great one. In my opinion this should be read by parents as well as non-parents as it shades light on some of the major issues we cary in our backpacks learned from our parents and grandparents. The heavy loads we tend to drag behind us without even realising we're doing so seem easy to solve when listening to the advice in this book. However, it isn't an easy job at all.
I like how the author gave credit for some of the ideas that weren't hers and thankful for this transparency as now I can go and research further on every area I need to improve on. The case studies are elocvent and even though sometimes hard to swallow, the reality is very few children are raised happy and without frustrations. This book helps people improve on what matterrs: honest and opened communication.

    great book

I enjoyed the book. it inspired me to look back at my own upbringing and the way I brought up my sons. I didn't like the imitation of children's voices. a great writer! An alright reader.
