Interesting romantic fantasy of manners

I had never before attempted to read this kind of manneristic romantic novel, which im my youth might have been deemed unsuitable for men. I quite liked the style and adored the narration, which is why I kept listening, despite finding the plot remarkably boring. Eventually I came to worry a lot about the three girls. So I had to listen past 75% and at about that time the story became both eventful and touching. Now I actually bought the second title.
