The looming war with Darrow has faded to a distant shadow, but Will’s continued studies at Wurthaven are disrupted by an unforeseen threat.
Selene’s absence has raised suspicion among her friends and Will’s father-in-law, the king, is now directing his ire at the obvious culprit: his daughter’s new husband. Meanwhile, the citizens of Cerria have begun disappearing and a shadowy figure is stalking Will’s sister, Laina.
With his power pushed to the limit, Will finds himself attempting to preserve a family that rejected him and trying to save a city whose king might rather see him dead. Desperate for help, he may not be able to trust the powers that have supported him in the past, for though the fae could be the source of the catastrophe, they only offer their assistance for a price. Evil stalks the streets of Cerria at night, seeking the blood of his family, the destruction of the city, and the death of the king.
Will may have to decide what is most important for Terabinia: preserving the people of its most prosperous city or saving its questionable ruler.

The only downpoint sometimes coming up is the ease Will manages skills and being superior after a couple of moments/years practicing - although Manning tries to explain the reason beyond it. On the other hand I enjoy watching a hero to raise!

Kommt mier jetzt bei diesem Buch, die Welt ist Riesig und es gibt also nur hier in diesem kleinen Land wissards. Also hat die ganze Welt das Wissen verloren! Auch das er bei 10 Schlägen auf den Rücken sich als nicht Gläubiger gleich mit Hilfe an eine göttin Wendet und sie im hilft ist irgendwie ein wenig witzig. jetzt ein Kompliment. Die Szene, in der so stümperhaft, den Vampir hinterhergerannt ist, um seine Tante zu retten ist genial beschrieben. Ohne Plan und ohne Verstand ist ein Nest des Grauens zu gehen, kann nur mit kompletten Verlust aller Freunde und im eigenen Leben enden.
Nachdem es in dieser Welt keine Schwüre gibt, dir ein Magisch binden ist es auch sehr komisch, dass er überhaupt noch auf freier Füße ist. Wenn ich der König oder irgendjemand anderes der obigen Führer Einheit wäre, hätte ich ihn schon längst eingesperrt. Vor allem passt es nicht zum bisherigen Verhalten des Königs, denn er wäre der Typus Mensch, der alles unter Kontrolle halten will und er ist immer noch frei! Jetzt ist übrigens ein Vampirfürst aufgetaucht, der davor ein ausgebildeter Wizard war, und er hat die letzten 200 Jahre auf jeden Fall keine wveiteren wirklichen WizardS ausgebildet!
