This is my favourite novel by this master storyteller. Her main protagonist is young, full of depth and trying to shake off the shackles of her family duties. She flees to Europe but learns that obstacles can only be confronted head-on and not through physical distance. A magnificent novel, very well narrated by different voices for the different protagonists.
Absolutely wonderful!
