May start a bit slower than you’re used to with Harry Bosch or Mickey Haller, but it’s getting there.
Most of the story takes place on Catalina Island, which served as a location for multiple former novels by the author. Also contains the odd Easter egg hinting at Bosch/Ballard/Haller novels.

that Connelly could write a boring thriller? I certainly didn't, but unfortunately - this time he's done it. Even if this story had been cut down to a quarter, the pace would have been moderate. Hopefully the next book will be a “real” Connelly again!
