Über diesen Titel

Eleven years ago Lindsey Nash escaped into the night with her young daughter and left an abusive relationship. Her ex-husband, Andrew, was sent to jail, and Lindsey started over with a new life. Now Lindsey is older and wiser, with her own business and a teenage daughter who needs her more than ever.

When Andrew is finally released from prison, Lindsey believes she has cut all ties and left the past behind her. But she gets the sense that someone is watching her, tracking her every move. Her new boyfriend is threatened. Her home is invaded, and her daughter is shadowed. Lindsey is convinced it's her ex-husband, even though he claims he's a different person. But has he really changed? Is the one who wants her dead closer to home than she thought?

The story is written in an exciting manner, the switching between past and present perfectly matches the story‘s development. I liked Lindsey‘s voice, she sounds southing, but Sophie‘s voice sounds a little brash and though it matches her character, still kind of makes her appear a little unlikeable.

The way the author describes the realationship between Lindsey and her violent husband is super realistic, you get the feeling, you’ve met people like Andrew in your own life. It‘s the way he tortures her psychologically that is both frightening and awful in a way that it makes you wanna follow the story in the hope she‘ll triumph over him soon. Though it‘s hard to believe he’s changed after he was realeased from prison, you know that it‘s not him playing the psycho games on his ex-wife. As far as I‘m concerned, Marcus was on my radar from the very beginning. The perfect „I‘m always there for you to help you without asking anything in return“ kind of relationship between him and Lindsey seemed too unlikely to me not to be suspicious of him. Even though the author tried to make it look like Sophie‘s boyfriend Jared might be involved in the threats, you still keep a close eye on Marcus all the time.
So to me, it was no surprise, when it turned out in the end from who all the attacks came from. But the reason why he did all of it to Lindsey and still kept doing it even after Andrew had disappeared doesn’t really make sense to me. The fight between Lindsey and Marcus seems abrupt and too stereotypical for these kinds of stories.

After all, mainly because of the story before the ending, which is really exciting and sometimes even creepy, I rate „Never let you go“ with 4 stars.

Exciting story with slightly disappointing ending

The author nailed it when it comes to the myriad emotions a victim faces when in an abusive relationship. Hate to say this though, the voice actor for Sophie sounded like a robot.

interesting insight into abusive relationships
