Trigger-Warning: physical torture of woman
I do not recommend this book to females who suffer from (Complex) PTSD. Especially to those women who experienced extreme violence from the males in her family.
The story in itself is incredibly deep and realistic (historical background).
But the main character (Sian) - whom the reader will grow to love dearly - will experience torture.
I was not able to distance myself from that.
Also, don’t underestimate the title of the book. Everything is about a deep, almost unbearable longing. The longing for belonging, for parents, for love,… basically all the things that C-PTSD-sufferers NEVER experienced.
I myself had to stop reading the book because I couldn’t bear the pain any longer.

Couldn't stop listening... kept me awake the night
The story has a very interesting historical background. It shows the early days of industrialization in UK. Also the lovestory is wonderful. I am very keen now to visit Wales and hear a bit more of the Welsh language and music.
