    Inhaltsangabe

In the vein of Mindy Kaling, Ali Wong and Amy Poehler, a collection of hilarious personal essays, and poems on the subjects of insecurity, fame, anxiety and much more from the charming and wickedly funny creator of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.

Rachel Bloom has felt abnormal and out of place her whole life. In this exploration of what she thinks makes her 'different', she's come to realise that a lot of people also feel this way - even people who she otherwise thought were 'normal'.

In a collection of laugh-out-loud funny essays, all told in the unique voice (sometimes singing voice) that made her a star, Rachel writes about everything from her love of Disney, OCD and depression, weirdness and female friendships to the story of how she didn't poop in the toilet until she was four years old. It's a hilarious, smart and infinitely relatable collection (except for the pooping thing).

    hilarious and weirdly relatable

the book itself is great but Rachel reading it makes it even better! Just take care when listening to it in public, because there are so many laughing out loud moments.

    Richtig witzig und herrlich selbstironisch!

Rachel Bloom erzählt hier die skurrilstem Momente aus ihrem Leben, ungeschönt, ehrlich und selbstironisch. Ich hätte ihr stundenlang zuhören können! 10/10

    hilarious, original, exhibitionistic, insightful

This book made me feel less weird and alone. Rachel Bloom is smart and funny, but does not use her humor and wit to create a distance between herself and difficult things she talks about. I especially loved hearing her talk about her experience as an artist - identifying with her work and performance, realizing that there is always someone who does "your thing" better than you, switching lanes and trying to find your place (plus sexism and workplace bullying), ... She talks about her mental health journey in a way that is accessible to me, because it's not vague or esoteric and doesn't sugercoat anything and writes herself neither as a noble hero and/or victim nor as a villain. Her personality, her body, her sexuality, her work - nothing is off limits in this book and nothing is just perfect and nothing is just ugly and irredeemable either.
