"Narrators Jenni Barber and Jayme Mattler lead a full cast in this YA homage to Daphne du Maurier's classic psychological suspense, REBECCA. While Barber and Mattler do most of the heavy lifting, it is the full cast that steals this audiobook show. The title character mysteriously disappears, and, as could only happen in contemporary times, a podcast sets out to solve the crime. As the supporting cast voices the podcast that runs through the story, listeners are treated to full, immersive audio with voices, static, variable sound quality, news clips,and sound effects. These vignettes drive the narrative forward. Once listeners hit play, they won't want to stop until they find out what happened to Zoe."

So the story is thrilling and I get the rebecca and sadie references, although this one does not get close to the brilliance of the two.
The Podcasts and different readers are a nice, and the story is full of red herrings. To the point that around 4 chapters are needed to round up the ending.
It's just that the character Anna is such a selfcentered cow, making the tragedie of Zoe all about herself. This is not an antihero anymore, just an idiot with a sketchbook wimpering poetic descriptions while messing with the traumatised inner circle of a dissapeared girl.

Go for it if you're looking for something like Sadie, but don't except too much. It's entertaining though.

really really good audiobook. the narrators and the podcast parts really did the trick for me. the story is also really good and I couldnt figure out how it all would play out until the very end. but overall i didn't enjoy the story as much as I thought. maybe I was already too old for it.
