Über diesen Titel

Furry fandom is a recent phenomenon, but anthropomorphism is an instinct hard-wired into the human mind: the desire to see animals on a more equal footing with people. It’s existed since the beginning of time in prehistoric cave paintings, ancient gods, and tribal rituals. It lives on today - not just in the sports mascots and cartoon characters we see everywhere, but in stage plays, art galleries, serious literature, performance art, and among furry fans who bring their make-believe characters to life digitally, on paper, or in the carefully crafted fur suits they wear to become the animals of their imagination.

In Furry Nation, author Joe Strike shares the very human story of the people who created furry fandom, the many forms it takes - from the joyfully public to the deeply personal - and how Furry transformed his own life.

Since there is basically no other furry content out there it is not like you have a choice - but you won't regret your time as long as you are remotely interested in the topic.
A few parts of it brought tears to my eyes (especially the part about how Pittsburgh loves and treats the furs). It was generally a treat to listed to and shortened endless commutes a lot.

If you are a fur or might want to learn more about it for some relative or friend or out of genuine interest this book is for you.

Now the ugly side of things: the narrator is only semi capable. All lines are well articulated and perfectly good to understand for a non native speaker like myself but he fails to change his voice in the slightest to point out citations or interview partners talking. It could as well have been an AI.
I more than a few times struggled to figure out who is speaking to whom.
Then there are rather nasty composure errors in the script. There are tons of doublings in sentences. It could really use a revision.
As is the narrator is the only negative thing about the book.
It is no deal breaker but rather nasty.

Still recommend it 100% though! It's worth your time.

Very informative, funny and worthwhile fur-related book
