Über diesen Titel
You don’t fall for your brother’s high school sweetheart, your boss’ daughter, or your ex-wife’s best friend. Especially when they’re all the same woman.
Under Brick Callan’s mile-wide chest beats a loyal heart with a few cracks in it. He’s the steadfast, overprotective type. Especially when it comes to the one woman he can never have.
It’s a long, complicated history punctuated by fights, friendship, family, and an attraction that strains his iron willpower. When Remi Ford returns to Mackinac Island in the dead of winter with a secret, Brick makes it his mission to find out what put the shadows in those green eyes. Even if it means breaking down the walls he’s built between them. Even if it means falling for the one girl he’ll never get over.
The free-spirited artist just needs to lay low for a few weeks so she can figure a way out of this nightmare. She’s definitely not staying. Not when the man who broke her teenage heart into splinters keeps showing up at her parents’ dinner table. Remi doesn’t need broody, bearded Brick riding to her rescue...again. Not when it will put them both in danger, costing them much more than their hearts.
Author’s note: Frenemies-to-lovers. Opposites attract. Slow burn. Girl in danger. Glorious, glorious banter. Fighting as foreplay. Small-town shenanigans. Big, grumpy, pining, overprotective hero. Wild-child, trouble-finding heroine who keeps on pushing the hero’s buttons. Steam level: Lava. Suspense: Nail-biting. Feels: Big time.

Now I decided on "Forever Never" and have been really disappointed. Not only was is not funny (what I would need in a romantic COMEDY), the two MC's were really weird. Brick was like a robot, programmed to find out Remi's secrets - and only that. Remi on the other hand only made a huge secret out of everything... No, really - everything! You don't have to share every tiny thing, but when she finally told Brick her big secret (it only took him asking her about it 5,378 times), I just thought "Wait, THAT'S it? Really?" So, yeah. Not only was I missing the comedic parts, I also couldn't connect to or understand the characters. By the time I gave up on the book, there hadn't been anything romantic, either. And then the artificially added bonus of the 'taboo'... Being childish morons does not make a relationship taboo. It was almost as if the author's goal was to bring as much angst into the story, as possible. But it seems that comedy is more her style than angst... But that's just my opinion. Maybe I'm just too open minded, who knows LOL
And maybe I would have listened to the audio a while longer, if it wasn't for that narrator Ramona Masters. A while ago, I've listened to BB Easton's "S$x/Life" Series, also narrated by Ramona Masters. Her weird way of talking and pronouncing certain words really out of context had already annoyed me back then. But in the narration of "Forever Never", said issues were unbearable. In my opinion, she reads in the 'sweet, too happy'-voice, that I only use on dogs, toddlers and maybe people in need of cheering up (like, nervous breakdown-level cheering up). For example, the 's' sounded like 'sh', the male MC's brother is named Spencer. But the way RM pronounced it, it sounded more like "Shpensher". Then there are the parts in which she spoke with a voice so high, my ears were ringing afterwards. The male spoken parts were in a monotonous grumble, though. Why???? Is there not a middle ground for that woman?
So, bottom line, I had to stop listening at just shy of 5 hours into the audio. Not really vibing with a story is one thing, but having nervous ticks beneath my eyes from the annoying voice screeching in your ears in 'baby-talk-voice' was too much for me. Shame, really!
Could I recommend "Forever never"? Not really. Maybe listen carefully to the sneak-peak option first, see if you can listen to 17+ hours of the narrator's voice. Also, there are so many other REALLY great books by Lucy Score - why should I recommend a book I feel like I wasted my time on to anyone else, if there are others to recommend?!
Couldn't finish
