wie manchmal beim Skifahren startet es erst etwas langsamer, um dann immer mehr an Fahrt aufzunehmen und als Schussfahrt ans Ziel zu gelangen.
Eine Kleinigkeit hier, eine Kleinigkeit da - und Chief Inspector Rivers wittert rasch die richtige Fährte. Nur: WER von fieser Gruppe ist die gesuchte Person?
Wenn man in der Lage wäre, den Hinweisen in Ruhe nachzugehen, käme man als Hörer schon auch noch auf die Lösung, aber die Autorin wechselt immer wieder den Ort und die Perspektive, so daß man sofort wieder abgelenkt ist 😀

Generally, Carol Carnac - also known as E.C.R. Lorac - is an excellent writer. I'd even dare say that, of all the authors of the "golden age" of the mystery novel, she is the one that has impressed me most. Apart from the interesting - if somewhat fantastic - plot, what makes this book so special is the description of life directly after WW2. The journey by train through post-war Europe, the way people exchanged currencies and made payments, the budding skiing tourism in Austria, all described in detail and so exciting for us, reading this book decades later. I found it an enjoyable trip indeed.
