Über diesen Titel
Thirty-five-year-old Rick Haviland is a well-respected speech pathologist, but while his friends are all settling into relationships, he refuses to give up his no-strings-attached club-boy sex life. For him, relationships are dangerous; he's got a secret to hide. When he meets Ian O'Donnell, an account manager with a local tabloid, Rick figures his personal rules for relationships should be enough to keep him safe from more than a one-night stand.
When Ian comes out of the closet, tired of anonymous hook-ups and keeping secrets from his large Catholic family, Rick is right there, and he's just the sort of man Ian might like to get to know better. Their attraction is immediate, electric and mutual. Ian convinces Rick to break more and more of his rules, and his defenses crumble. But someone watches, someone who'd like to see this new relationship fail. When Ian's job becomes a means to expose Rick's secret, it could destroy both their careers and their hearts.
©2013 KC Burn (P)2014 Dreamspinner PressI love how KC Burn has given Rick and Ian their special story which is solely about their painstaikingly tender relationship development, getting me hooked to it from word one until the end. With Rick being a speech pathologist and Ian working as accountant manager for a flashy tabloid, the cop & crime theme from the previous books is just mentioned along the lines. Still there are weird things happening and it honestly made me wonder if Rick had not faced something similar with his rather provoking club life style before. When the tabloid threatens to expose Rick´s carefully kept secret, Ian is forced to make another life changing desicion. What a high speed emotional roller coaster! I am so sad there is no sequal at sight of this great series with all those wonderful guys though.
Tristan James has done a marvellous narration, again, portaying those two multilayerd men and bringing them „alive“. I love how many voice nuances he puts into Rick, who is a loyal friend and way more sensible than his easy going attitude to avoid anything that comes close to more feelings or beware, even a relationship, might imply. Ian, from his lovingly big family, seems like the total opposite and his struggle to be patient with Rick as well as his irritation when the other man aviods family gatherings, are well worked out. Ian fighting so hard on winning Rick´s trust really warmed my heart. Mr. James reading with so many emotions those 7 ½ hours simply whooshed by way too fast!
