Ruins and Grace: A Memoir of Reclaiming My Voice Through Fire, Faith, and Becoming
A sequel to The Girl Who Survived Herself
I thought surviving was the hardest part.
For years, I believed that because I had rebuilt my life, found my voice, pursued my dreams, and walked away from the things that once held me captive, I had healed.
Then something happened that forced me to confront a truth I was not prepared for.
I had not healed in every area of my life.
I had simply learned how to survive around the places that still hurt.
When unexpected news about my mother brought emotions rushing back to the surface, I found myself facing pain I thought I had already dealt with. It led me back to counseling, deeper questions, and the realization that some wounds had not disappeared. They had been placed in boxes while I built my life around them.
Ruins and Grace is the story of what happened when those boxes were opened.
It is the story of the ruins, the experiences that shaped me and the places where I was fractured.
It is the story of the fire, the painful work of healing, questioning, setting boundaries, rebuilding faith, and letting go of identities I created just to survive.
And it is the story of grace, learning to meet myself with compassion, reclaim my voice, and embrace the woman I am still becoming.
This is not a story about someone who has finally figured everything out.
It is a story about someone who has learned how to return to herself when life shakes her.
I am still healing.
I am still asking questions.
I am still becoming.
But I know something now that I did not know before: Healing is not about pretending the fire never happened.
It is about discovering that the fire does not get the final word.
Grace does.
