Loved the first part and the intermission book about peters rescue. This one is just as emotional as we follow our favorite characters into the next chapter, not without losses. Although filled with grief I love the second book and am looking forward to the next part of the journey following Cassie, Peter, Bits and all the others.

The second book is just as amazing as the first one. Super exciting and it had me crying twice. Not every book can do that!

Which can be a very good trait. I like being surprised by something happening I thought the author would never do. But at same time, seeing so many characters die I have grown attached to sours my experience. I don’t mind one or two but here, there has been a massive cut and I decided not to listen to the next one because of the feeling it left me with. I prefer my zombie apocalypse books to show off what you can achieve with working together and a positive spin on bracing against the world. Mainly fuelled through the wonderful stories of my ‚Zombies! run‘ app that made me fall in love with the genre. But sadly, it seems, books often lean to either the cruel loss like this one or (not like this one which is a massive bonus) idiots who seem to get off on weapons, fucking and being a lone wolf as if these fantasies were even remotely entertaining let alone truly manageable for a long time for most human beings.
The author did an amazing job in including a child character who wasn’t whiny annoying little twerp, a challenge I commend for achieving!
The ending got the four instead of five stars for me
