Really enjoyed the book. And more than I thought I would. I've read through a couple of these romance series and they are mostly entertaining, sometimes hot, sometimes heartfelt, sometimes meh. This one was unexpectedly soft and sweet and beautiful. Can't believe I almost didn't read it because I was of all things thrown off by the cover pictures for this series. I would love to read more of this story and how everything will develop. There's so much more. Need to check out if there's a sequel somewhere in the series.
The narrators were great. I already knew Greg Boudreaux who was why I got the book in the first place. I always enjoy listening to him. He's so good at capturing the mood and state of mind on the page with his voice. John Solo was new to me and I very much enjoyed listening to him. His narration voice was very soft and calm and masculine and delicious. They were great together! When you read a book through narrators it takes away a small piece of imagination but if it's done well it adds a big chunk right back to it. This was that.
If you're on the fence just read it! This was my thirteenth book in June and it's in the top 5.

I have to admit that it took me a very long time to get this audio book. Every time I had tears in my eyes, I had to take an emotional break before I could continue listening. This is not a cheerful romance, but a tough (survival) story. There are two broken men who somehow find comfort in each other, but cannot get over their struggle with insecurity. Nothing is glossed over here, but you are confronted with real problems and insurmountable interpersonal conflicts. I expected this book not to have a "happy" ending, but - phew - dodged that bullet ;). I can definitely recommend this book, but you have to be prepared for it to take a lot out of you at one point or another.
