Merrill Shaffer

Merrill Shaffer is a lifelong (almost) Pittsburgh Steeler fan, who grew up in Central Pennsylvania during the team's glory years in the 1970s. Like many dreamers, his football career did not progress much past those youthful backyard games and schoolboy days. However, his one football claim to fame was kicking off the first ball under the brand new lights during the first night game played at his high school football stadium. Realizing that a career with the Steelers may not be in the cards, Merrill earned an A.A. in Business Management from Harrisburg Area Community College and a B.S. in Criminal Justice from Pennsylvania State University. He has spent the past 16 years in law enforcement as a Probation Officer and remains a diehard fan of the Black and Gold. He is a member of Steelers Nation Unite and has had the pleasure of meeting and interacting with numerous current and former Pittsburgh Steelers players and coaches over the past three decades. Merrill resides in Palmyra, Pennsylvania with his wife and daughter.
