With accessible expository commentary paired with inspirational devotional thought, The See Series speaks to both the heart and mind―unlocking a deeper understanding of the Bible often reserved for scholars and theologians.

The Gospel of John is clearly meant to be more than just another version of the same story summarized in the other gospels. John presents Jesus not only as the Son of God but as God incarnate―a much higher and more developed Christology than we see elsewhere in the New Testament. And it describes our relationship with Jesus in deeper terms than the other Gospels do. John seems to have been written in and for a community of believers with a strong sense of mission and a lot of opposition. Its overarching purpose is for those who do not yet believe to embrace Jesus, and for those who do believe to believe more profoundly and persistently.

Written by beloved devotional writer and biblical scholar Chris Tiegreen, each book of The See Series does more than encourage us simply to know and then do; rather, it casts a vision for us to see, then be, then live. Like Jesus, who incorporated visual language into all his teaching, this series aims at refocusing our inner eye. If we can see what biblical writers saw and live according to that vision, we can be transformed.

A valuable resource for any Christian, each commentary includes:

• an introduction to the biblical book to aid your study

• an introduction for each subsection of the book, explaining its place and purpose in the text, the historical context or background of that section, and how it fits into the big-picture vision of biblical truth

• a series of devotionals on the text that further explain purpose and meaning, offer suggestions for practical application, and inspire and challenge you to re-envision―to learn to see in new ways

• a discussion guide in the back to help you further reflect on the Scripture passages and/or talk about them with others to deepen your faith and expand your spiritual vision even more

John: A Devotional Commentary gives you rich insight into the truths contained in this gospel, helping transform your mind, heart, and imagination.
