When Mark Murphy, an experienced but burnt-out newspaper reporter, takes a job on a second-rate city daily, he's really just looking for a steady income and a little peace and quiet. What he gets is a murder mystery. Danny Alexander is on the run from the notorious British gangster Tommy Hill, and he attempts to cover his tracks by moving in with Diana, an old flame that he re-connects with at a high school reunion. But it all falls apart when Diana's best friend lets the cat out of the bag about Danny's whereabouts. An international chase ensues with ports of call in Montreal, Mont Carlo, Las Vegas and London with Tommy Hill chasing Danny and Diana, and Inspector Wendell Oliver of Scotland Yard chasing them all.
