This hilarious segment of a seaside novel was begun during Jane Austen's final illness and leaves off after the 10th chapter. One can only speculate at the intended conclusion! Also included are memorable excerpts from her six novels.

Jane Austen’s final, unfinished novel centres on Charlotte Heywood as she arrives in an up-and-coming seaside town. As she meets a host of characters, from her hosts’ family to visitors from the West Indies, Austen's final novel gives us a concise insight into the deception, snobbery, and unexpected romances that occur in the world of her characters.

Jane Austen skewers the novelistic extremes of her day made popular in many 18th-century Gothic potboilers. Dilapidated castles, locked rooms, inexplicable chests, enigmatic notes, and tyrannical fathers all figure into Northanger Abbey, but with a decidedly sardonic twist.

Jane Austen's first novel - published posthumously in 1818 - tells the story of Catherine Morland and her dangerously sweet nature, innocence, and sometime self-delusion. Though Austen's fallible heroine is repeatedly drawn into scrapes while vacationing at Bath and during her subsequent visit to Northanger Abbey, Catherine eventually triumphs, blossoming into a discerning woman who learns truths about love, life, and the heady power of literature. The satirical novel pokes fun at the gothic novel while earnestly emphasizing caution to the female sex.

In a new audio adaptation of some of Austen's lesser known works, Avita Jay brings to life the wit and satire of one of England's greatest authors. In Austen’s final and unfinished novel, Charlotte Heywood finds herself caught up in the comings and goings of the lively seaside resort "Sanditon". It is a story filled with a cast of colourful characters, from the widowed Lady Denham to wealthy Caribbean heiress, Georgiana Lambe, and the dashing, Sidney Parker. Naturally, romance and scandal ensue.

Catherine Morland reads tales of Gothic romance, yet leads a country life in Wiltshire. When she travels to Bath, she meets and falls in love with Henry Tilney. She is invited by his sister and father to stay at Northanger Abbey, where she meets all the trappings of Gothic horror that she has read about. Fortunately, she has her own good sense and irresistible but unsentimental hero, Henry Tilney.
