Matt was a starter on the 1982 National Championship UNC Tar Heels basketball team, and brought the ball up the court for Michael Jordan, James Worthy, and Sam Perkins. Matt was drafted by Cleveland, and three days later his contract was voided. He never played in the NBA. Matt spent time on Wall Street, then became head coach for Notre Dame for one season, and then went to his alma mater, UNC, where he was named the National Coach of the Year in his first season.
