Polynesia the parrot, Jip the dog, Too-Too the owl, Dab-Dab the duck, Gub-Gub the pig, Chee-Chee the monkey and many other animals accompany Dr. Doolittle on his adventurs in England, Africa and on the High Seas. Please note - due to certain unfortunate racial epithets and insensitivities contained in the narrative of this book, parental guidance is suggested.

When a terrible epidemic breaks out among monkeys in Africa, Dr. Dolittle sets out to save them, accompanied by some of his favorite pets.

He recalls how he met Doctor John Dolittle and the many adventures they shared. Then comes a war between the native tribes, Dolittle being crowned King, the arrival of the Great Glass Sea-Snail and their eventual return to Puddleby-on-the-Marsh.
