In presenting The Life and Teaching of the Masters of the Far East, I wish to state that I was one of a research party of 11 persons that visited the Far East in 1894. During our stay - three and a half years - we contacted the Great Masters of the Himalayas, who aided us in the translation of the records, which was of great assistance in our research work. They permitted us to enter into their lives intimately and we were thus able to see the actual working of the great Law as demonstrated by them.

Many men have written about Tibet and its secret lore, but few have actually penetrated it to learn its ancient wisdom. Among those few was Madame Alexandra David-Neel, a French orientalist. A practicing Buddhist...she actually lived in Tibet for more than 14 years. Magic and Mystery in Tibet tells the story of her experiences in Tibet, among lamas and magicians. It is neither a travel book nor an autobiography but a study of psychic discovery, a description of the occult and mystical theories and psychic training practices of Tibet.

T. Lobsang Rampa, mystic, sage, and student of the astral, offers another of his profound dissertations on the psychic world. Here he foretells the disasters and happenings of the future - the events to come that will purify and evolve a new cycle of life on Earth.

High in the rarefied air of the Himalayas stands the great Lamasery of Potala. Here, as a young boy, T. Lobsang Rampa came to study the teachings of the Lord Buddha. Through the eyes of this young acolyte, we learn of the life of Prince Gautama and his discovery of the Middle Way, the Four Noble Truths, and the state of Nirvana. Those who have heard of Lobsang Rampa's experiences in the lamaseries of Tibet will be greatly moved by this personal story of the transition of a daring, sometimes disobedient, youth into a serious, deep-thinking young man possessing quite exceptional sensory abilities.

Here in these ancient repositories of wisdom, the lamas learn the meaning of life - and of death: the relationship between the mind and the brain; the secrets of hypnotism, telepathy, clairvoyance, and reincarnation.
