  • #8: Music Industry ADHD coach Tristan Hunt
    Aug 12 2024

In this episode, I sit down with Tristan Hunt, an ADHD coach specializing in the music industry. We delve into Tristan's experiences in the music world and his personal journey following a late ADHD diagnosis. We discuss the need for a broader, more inclusive approach to education that can provide appropriate stimulation for children with diverse interests, contrasting this with traditional education systems that can stunt the development of neurodivergent learners.

We also explore the relationships between trauma and ADHD and examine how past traumas can manifest in neurodivergent traits, and at addiction and why it is not infrequently seen in people with ADHD.

In this episode, (recorded during Neurodiversity Celebration Week in April 2024) the multi-talented Tina Edwards - DJ, broadcaster, author and editor opens up about her journey of discovering her ADHD in her mid-20s and the impact it had on understanding herself.

We bond over shared experiences of school and university with undiagnosed ADHD, from crushing disappointments of exam results to the coping mechanisms they unknowingly developed.

Discovering her diagnosis partly through the paradoxically calming effect of chaotic, improvisational jazz, Tina discusses ADHDs emotional toll, the importance of self-compassion and music as a form of "medicine" for the ADHD brain and we explore the differences in ADHD behaviours seen in girls & women

Enjoy an intimate and insightful exploration of the intersection of neurodiversity, creativity and the healing power of music.

    Tina's pivotal tracks are:

    "Pagan Poetry" by Bjork

"Don't Forget You're Precious." by Alabaster DePlume
