  • Ep31: Snippet - When a Healthcare Practitioner Says, “I’ve Never Seen That Before”
    Oct 21 2026

Living with ME/CFS, Fibromyalgia, Long COVID, POTS, post-viral fatigue syndrome or related conditions can make dealing with healthcare practitioners challenging — especially when you're experiencing complex or unexplained symptoms and someone says, "I've never seen that before."

Does that mean they don't believe you? That your symptoms aren't real? Or that you have some kind of mystery illness that nobody understands?

For people experiencing chronic illness, feeling dismissed, misunderstood or not believed by healthcare practitioners can be distressing, particularly when you're already struggling to find answers and appropriate support.

In this video, Dan Neuffer addresses the challenges of navigating healthcare appointments and dealing with practitioners who may not understand your symptoms. He explores what comments like "I've never seen that before" can mean, how to approach difficult healthcare interactions, and what to consider when seeking help during chronic illness recovery.

Dan also discusses the importance of working effectively and safely with healthcare practitioners, including the role of medical evaluation and addressing physical dysfunctions and symptom triggers as part of the ANS REWIRE recovery approach.

If you've ever felt dismissed, struggled to get your symptoms taken seriously, or wondered how to find appropriate healthcare support, this video offers a different perspective on moving forward.

QUESTION FOR THE COMMENTS: Have you ever been told "I've never seen that before" by a healthcare practitioner? How did you respond?

  • Ep31: Snippet - Why Motivation Disappears in Chronic Illness Recovery & How to Get It Back
    Aug 12 2026

Living with ME/CFS, Fibromyalgia, Long Covid, POTS, post-viral fatigue syndrome or related chronic illness can make motivation feel almost impossible.

    Not because you are lazy.
    Not because you are weak.
And not because you simply need more discipline.

When symptoms, fear of flare-ups, setbacks, pain, exhaustion and disappointment become part of everyday life, even small steps can start to feel overwhelming.

In this video, I explore why motivation often changes during chronic illness recovery — especially when people move from desperation into partial improvement — and why relying only on “pushing through” or fear of staying sick can become exhausting.

We’ll look at the deeper drivers of motivation, why recovery goals need to feel emotionally meaningful but also realistic, and how small positive experiences can help people stay engaged without forcing themselves beyond their limits.

This video is for anyone who feels stuck, flat, unmotivated, discouraged, or unsure how to keep moving forward in recovery.

    QUESTIONS FOR THE COMMENTS:
How has your motivation changed over time — and what has helped you stay engaged in recovery?

  • Ep30: Snippet – The Real Problem with People Experiencing ME/CFS, Long Covid, Fibromyalgia and POTS
    Jul 21 2026

Many people with ME/CFS, Long COVID, Fibromyalgia, POTS and related chronic illnesses have been told they're weak, lazy, or simply not trying hard enough.

But after years of illness and more than a decade of supporting others, I've come to believe there may be a different problem entirely.

Why do so many people continue pushing through debilitating symptoms? Why do they keep trying to meet responsibilities, support others, and carry on long after their bodies are asking them to stop?

In this video, I share a personal experience that led me to reflect on an often-overlooked pattern I see in people living with chronic illness. We explore the push-crash cycle, the pressure of the "shoulds" and "musts" that many of us carry, and why doing less is not always the same as truly resting.

We'll also discuss why rest is about more than inactivity, how guilt and self-pressure can make it difficult to recover, and why learning to be kinder to ourselves may be harder than it sounds.

If you've experienced ME/CFS (Chronic Fatigue Syndrome), Long COVID, Fibromyalgia, POTS, PVFS or a related chronic illness, I'd love to hear your perspective.

Has this illness taught you to slow down and rest, or have you found yourself pushing through for far longer than you should have?
