  • Adam Christing and the Language of Laughter
    Jan 3 2026

A huge happy new year to all of my listeners.

I thought the first podcast of the new year should at least bring a smile or two to your face!

On today's podcast I had the pleasure of chatting with comedian, author and presenter Adam Christing about his latest book 'The Laughter Factor'.

While we all love to laugh, what role does laughter have in the modern workplace?

Adam chats about the importance of laughter in the workplace, some of the do's and don'ts and some tips and tricks you may use to introduce humour, even if it doesn't come so naturally to you.

Adam says "you can bring your people together with humour and heart"

  • Brendan Canty on Directing his first movie 'Christy', his first film documentary 'Gaeltra' and how he learnt his craft
    Dec 13 2025

On today's podcast I chatted with my son Brendan Canty as we come to the end of what was an amazing year for him.

The first movie that he co-wrote and directed, 'Christy' hit movie screens around the world winning awards and great acclaim and his first full feature documentary 'Gaeltra' has just premiered at the Cork International Film Festival and scooped the Best New Irish Feature Award.

The future is looking very bright and from the outside looking in, it may look as though he enjoys instant success at every turn, but as we all know nothing happens like that.

On the podcast Brendan chats about these successes, but more importantly he takes us through all the other stepping stone projects that came before these where he learned his craft, from the first school projects, music videos and commercial work.

In any career you can't cheat the learning curve, but you need to seize the opportunities along the way when you can gain all of that lvaluable earning.

He also chats about the perils about working in such an unpredictable industry and how to keep yourself sane in the process!

  • Deirdre Waldron - 25 Questions about 25 Years of Fuzion
    Dec 2 2025

On today's podcast I had the one and only, Deirdre Waldron, Founder of Fuzion to chat about a huge milestone in our business,

This month we celebrate 25 incredibly busy and interesting years in business. We have weathered the storms of the post Celtic Tiger recession and the Covid shutdown, and in each case we stayed agile, we learnt valuable lessons and came out the other side wiser and stronger.

To capture some of the learnings from those 25 years, our team put 25 questions to Deirdre about this time.

Let's hear what she had to say…

  • Paul Niland - Bombs landing on my apartment building in Kyiv and the bullshit 28 point Peace Plan
    Nov 27 2025

On today's podcast I spoke once again with a regular guest, Paul Niland who has been living in Kyiv in Ukraine for nearly 24 years.

Paul who is originally from Ireland, is a journalist, a political commentator and the founder and CEO of Lifeline Ukraine, a national suicide prevention service.

On the announcement of the very serious joke that is the 28 point "Peace Plan" that was cobbled together by Trump's administration and Putin, I just had to get Paul on the podcast to discuss it and the likely response from Ukraine.

Paul, just days after Russian explosives had destroyed apartments just two floors above his own, he tells me in no uncertain terms what the response will be, and assures me that Ukraine is not on its knees and won't be capitulating to Russia at any point in the future.

We chatted about life in Ukraine, the conscription of civilians to the army, the thousands of abducted children, the resilience of the people and how he believes this war will end.

It is crystal clear that Trump is on the side of Russia, and what may not be clear is that while this is a huge issue for Ukraine today it could easily be a similar issue for Europe tomorrow.

  • Fr. David Gierlach - Jesus Christ! He Still Matters
    Nov 20 2025

On today's podcast I had the pleasure of the company of Episcopal priest, Fr. David Gierlach speaking from his parish in Honolulu, in Hawaii.

Fr. David was encouraged to speak his mind on social media a couple of years' ago when many people were outraged that Transgender Appreciation Day coincidentally fell on the same day as Easter Sunday.

    His post blew up!

Fr. David realised that he had a powerful platform and his gift for communication could take his voice beyond the congregation in his own parish.

Two years later this skilled and passionate priest has amassed a following of over 600,000 people between Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and TikTok and he uses this to talk straight regularly about basic human values, and in particular the dangerous MAGA cult of morally absent Donald Trump and the damage he is doing.

Fr. David started off life in a Catholic seminary, but he left because it wasn't for him. He worked for an alcohol and drug residential centre, he studied law and had a successful two decade career as a lawyer and then in 2009 he became an Episcopal priest.

He has recently written a book, 'Jesus Christ! He Still Matters', to remind people about real faith, and not the version that seems to be brainwashing so many at the moment.

We need many more like Fr. David.

  • Paul Kearns in Tel Aviv - Peace At Last
    Nov 5 2025

On today's podcast I chat once again with Paul Kearns, urban planner, author and journalist who has been living in Tel Aviv with his young family for the last 8 years.

Paul brings us his insights from inside Israel since the Trump brokered cease fire - were there celebrations, who is credited with the ceasefire, what is the general mood like, what is the current standing of Netanyahu and what will happen with his corruption trial?

He spoke about the trauma of this war for those in Israel, for those in Gaza and the West Bank, and how he tries his very best to explain the war to his very curious 9 year old girl.

This was a difficult conversation, and in all honesty it is impossible to see a peaceful path forward, but yet, life goes on for everyone who will have to do their best to recover from the psychological trauma of this utterly pointless war.

This world of ours has to do a better job in making sure this does not happen again.

Just a day after our conversation Gaza was attacked again and over 100 people were murdered.

    Thanks for listening ..

  • Facing fear and living with OCD with Renee Zukin, Author of 'Every Day I'm Brave'
    Oct 26 2025

On today's podcast I chatted with the author of the book 'Every Day I'm Brave', Renee Zukin.

Renee talks about her life and career and in particular about the struggles of living with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder otherwise known as OCD.

For some reason she was always fearful in her life, and when this mum of three was unravelling with malnutrition because of the irrational fear of what might be in her food, she realised that she had to seek much needed help.

Eventually she was diagnosed of having OCD, and it was only with a deep understanding of this condition did she learn how to recognise and control it and begin to change her life for the better.

This avid writer put pen to paper and wrote the book 'Every Day I'm Brave' to help others who suffer from similar conditions or who are gripped by fear, preventing them from living the full lives they deserve.

Renee says the book is part memoir and in part a practical self help book, and in our conversation she talks about the debilitating effect of "fear" and how you can start to face it, one step at a time.

  • David Ellis - When the Spirit World meets the Physical World (Part 2)
    Oct 14 2025

Welcome back to the second part of my conversation with author, restaurateur, healer and teacher David Ellis.

In this episode David explains why he could hear the voices that no one else could hear and the changes this brought to his life.

He chats about his spiritual journey, his healing work and that of the Atlantis Institute and he also has a very honest conversation about the challenges of living as part of a gay couple in a world where acceptance is often just polite lip service to an inclusive idea.
