  • Joe Philpott - All Roads Lead to Where You Are
    May 2 2026

On today's podcast I chatted with Musician, Songwriter and Author, my good pal Joe Philpott about his life, his book 'All Roads Lead to Where You Are' and some new music that he has just released.

Joe had the adventure of a lifetime when he and his school buddies headed to America to see if they could make it in the music business with their band Rubyhorse.

While his excellent book captures this amazing story, the practice of writing the book has opened a huge door to his overall creativity resulting in new projects and new music.

If you get a chance to grab a copy of the book, it's impossible to put down once you start.

  • Daniel Cremin - The real magic is storytelling, not the tricks!
    Apr 7 2026

On today's podcast I chatted with writer, performer, producer and magician Daniel Cremin.

At four years of age Daniel saw a magician perform a trick at a local library which intrigued him,and at 11 he saw Paul Daniels perform a magic trick on TV, he was hooked.

Daniel immersed himself in magic and at every opportunity he would perform his tricks to friends, family, visitors to the house and even to the local priest at his first confession!

Since then he has perfected his craft as a magician and extended his interests to acting, writing and producing shows.

Daniel is a very busy man between his one man, self written, self performed show 'Why Magic', the Cork Fringe Festival that he co-founded, which will run from the 8th to the 10th May, a new project, 'Jacko the Musical', and his private magic shows.

The real magic is storytelling, not the tricks!

  • Explaining War and Bomb Alerts to Your Young Children
    Mar 23 2026

On today's podcast I welcome back urban planner, journalist and political commentator, Paul Kearns to the podcast.

Paul is living in Tel Aviv with his partner and his two young girls and finds himself once again, literally in the eye of the storm as the war with Iran is in its fourth week.

Bomb alerts are now part of everyday life for the family, and as he says himself, you never get used to that sound.

He chats about the impact of the war, in particular on his young girls and the long term effect on the next generation, who are growing up with harsh memories and inevitable hatred for the "other side".

Paul explains the mood in Israel and why support for what I believe is an unnecessary war with Iran, has increased since it began.

Discussing war on a podcast about Happiness might seem strange - unfortunately life goes on even when the bombs are falling.

  • Andy Freed - Lead Like the Boss
    Mar 17 2026

On today's podcast I chatted with communications specialist and author Andy Freed about his book, 'Lead Like the Boss'.

When Andy, a lifelong Bruce Springsteen fan was returning from one of the 95 concerts he has seen, he penned a post on LinkedIn about the leadership qualities of "The Boss", and what we can all learn from them.

This post literally blew up and eventually turned into this book.

Andy spoke about his own life and career, leadership lessons he learnt from working on political campaigns in America and more importantly the important lessons that leaders of today can learn from Bruce.

He talks about the importance of storytelling, empathy, rehearsing, carefully listening, bringing people with you and much more.

He also explains how teddy bears ended up in police cars!

  • Launch of the Fuelling Ambition podcast with Deirdre Waldron
    Mar 8 2026

As you may have noticed this is not a usual Win Happy podcast.

To celebrate International Women's Day I decided to assist the lovely Deirdre Waldron, founder of Fuzion in launching her own podcast, called Fuelling Ambition.

She is a huge believer in supporting other women in business and this led to her being national president of Network Ireland.

During her presidency the theme of her tenure was all about ambition, and on her podcast she wants to continue with this agenda, inspiring other women whenever and wherever she can.

I think her podcast is great and I would encourage you to subscribe to it.

To all the women out there, Happy International Women's Day, and well done Dee!

    Enjoy the show…

  • Pam Kelly - The Crazy World of a Head Chef
    Feb 24 2026

On today's podcast I chatted with well known and much loved Pam Kelly, who has been a Head Chef in Cork city for over 20 years.

Her early years were spent in a one bed flat in The LIberties in Dublin and then the family moved to the total opposite, a huge house in the country in Ballinasloe.

The hospitality industry was in the family blood, so her career choice was no surprise even though at a very early stage Pam had a notion that she might like to become a nun until she discovered other interests including a love for heavy metal!

We chatted about her early life, alcoholism in the family, the crazy but wonderful world of food, her favourite places to eat and her next career steps.

She has worked as Head Chef in Cork in popular restaurants including Harvey's Bistro, Nash 19, Perry Street, Market Lane and The Farm Gate, and each of them comes with their own stories.

  • Paul Kearns on the Dangers of Extreme Anti-Israeli Sentiment and Media Censorship
    Feb 15 2026

On today's podcast I chat once again with Paul Kearns, urban planner, author and journalist who has been living in Tel Aviv with his young family for the last 8 years.

Paul has been bringing us the truth from within Israel throughout the Gaza war, including the story of censorship by the media there and the presentation of the genocide in a very sanitised way to the people of Israel.

In bravely doing so, Paul has in many cases alienated himself from friends and family but his honesty has been much appreciated and his writing has been very welcome by Irish media.

He is now increasingly concerned by some political rhetoric and what he is hearing from the Jewish community in Ireland. He believes that the horrors we have witnessed in Gaza has resulted in visceral antisemitism, which could be a real threat to this community and his own family should he ever decide to visit or even return to Ireland to live.

When he wrote about this topic, the media outlets who were happy to take his earlier articles did not want to know.

We spoke about this version of censorship, antisemitism, holocaust deniers, conspiracy theories and how a country can start to rebuild its reputation, which is in tatters.

  • Lorcan Owens - Life at a Crossroads
    Feb 8 2026

On today's podcast I chatted with Lorcan Owens as he is about to step onto a plane, back to Australia to pursue a different life to the one he has in Ireland.

Lorcan is from a small town in Roscommon, he is a qualified primary school teacher but as he says himself he chose this profession initially as it was a "safe" choice.

He chatted about living as a gay man, deciding when to come out, his huge interest in the Middle East and geo politics and his brief spell working in that industry, which he would love to get back to.

Like all of us he is faced with choices in his life to pursue his happiness and I wonder what is next for him.

    Enjoy the show!
