  • White Belt Leadership Mindset with Mike Best, Master of Wine
    Sep 30 2026

    Leave a Review

In this Episode, we are joined by Master of Wine, Mike Best.

He shares his journey into working in wine and how he views Leadership as needing to be adaptive, fluid, intelligent and humble. He leans upon his Brazilian Jujitsu training by adopting a 'white-belt' mindset to Leadership. This mindset's premise is about being humble, having a growth learning attitude and to be curious about the world.

He also shares his insights on working in the wine industry and what he'd like to see happen in the future world of wine. Can wine go mainstream and what needs to happen for it to go mainstream?

I've shared a few of my thoughts on Leadership too; drawing upon Self-Determination Theory; Signalling Theory, Locus of Control, Power Distance and Humble Leadership. I also talk about 'Area 47' (Levitin, The Organised Mind) and delve into the brain for some inspiration on Leadership and Perceiving Future Events.

The date of 1290 refers to when Leadership first appeared in Text. It's a much debated topic and one that I loved sinking my teeth into. I have a background in Occupational Psychology, Psychometrics and Psychology Coaching.

This is a jam packed episode with so many pearls of wisdom to take away (Mike's- not mine).

  • Do you have the Luck Radar? Richard Hemming, MW shares his journey into becoming a Master of Wine.

What is luck? Can you create your own luck? Do you have the Luck Radar?

In this episode, we are joined by Richard Hemming, MW (Master of Wine) who is based in Singapore. He generously shares his journey into the wine industry and how he became a Master of Wine, one of the hardest exams on the planet!

I was struck by his interpretation of luck and how he became a writer for Jancis Robinson. I weave together this idea of the lucky mindset versus the unlucky mindset and whether luck is something we can cultivate.

Hopefully, you'll find this not only interesting to listen to but to also take away a few tips from the works of Richard Wiseman (Psychologist) and from my own expertise as a Psychology Coach. I work with clients to develop strategies around organisation, energy management, leadership and sometimes developing a 'Lucky Radar'.

  • Biophilia on The Rocks in Saint Lambert du Lattay with Romaine and Justine from Domaine des Myotosis
    Aug 24 2026

    Leave a Review

Have you ever wanted to jump into a big muddy puddle? When did you last see a muddy puddle?

We explore the relationship with how the climate is impacting the vineyard. We are excited to hear about Romaine and Justine's own experiences of owning and working a vineyard in Saint Lambert du Lattay.

The Elders say 'A great vintage is a drought on an excess of rain' so maybe Romaine and Justine can expect a great vintage from 2026. How will they adapt to the continuing heatwaves and where might they look for inspiration to learn?

Back to muddy puddles- we examine the connection we have with nature. This is known as 'Biophilia'- a deep relationship we have with life and nature and link this to working in the vineyard.

So, if you find yourself in Loire Valley, go and visit them at Domaine des Myosotis.
