  • Melvins vs. Napalm Death: Savage Imperial Death March & Noise vs. Groove
    Apr 28 2026

Grindcore pioneers Napalm Death and sludge legends Melvins come together for a rare three-way conversation that's as chaotic, funny and insightful as you'd hope. Barney Greenway and Buzz Osborne dig into their collaborative record Savage Imperial Death March, unpacking noise vs groove, creative freedom, and how two completely different bands can somehow speak the same language. It's part history lesson, part philosophy, and part absolute nonsense ... in the best possible way.

  • Puscifer's Normal Isn't: Carina Round Gets Elbows Deep in Creativity, Chaos & Joy
    Apr 18 2026

Carina Round from Puscifer joins We Wreck Records for a conversation that goes way beyond the music.

We get into the psychology of creating under pressure, the strange balance between darkness and joy, and what it really means to build something meaningful with other people. Carina opens up about finding her place inside Puscifer's world, the trust that fuels their creative process, and how pushing yourself into the unknown is often the only way forward.

From feminine energy in heavy music, to the chaos of the pandemic, to carving out beauty when life gets difficult - this is a deep, thoughtful and unexpectedly funny conversation about art, identity and staying creatively alive.

If you've ever wondered how great records actually come together, or why we make things at all, this one goes there.

  • Primitive Man's Observance: Death Sludge, Occult Art & Surviving the Surveillance State
    Mar 13 2026

Ethan Lee McCarthy of Primitive Man joins host Christina Rowatt to talk about the band's devastating album Observance and the ideas behind their uniquely oppressive sound.

In this conversation, Ethan explains why Primitive Man rejected the limitations of traditional doom metal and coined their own term – "death sludge." He dives into the band's sonic philosophy, from crafting guitar tones that feel like "the surface of the sun" to drawing influence from artists as diverse as Portishead, industrial music and film soundtracks.

The conversation moves from sound to worldview. Ethan discusses the themes driving Observance, including techno-feudalism, the surveillance state and the growing influence of authoritarian politics around the world. Primitive Man's music may be punishingly heavy, but it's rooted in a deep awareness of the human condition.

Along the way, Ethan also shares a surprising origin story: how drawing demonic imagery as a child led to accusations of satan worship in his religious household – and ultimately pushed him toward picking up the guitar.

It's a conversation about extreme music, art, politics and the strange paths that lead people to create the soundtrack to the end of the world.

  • Gogol Bordello's We Mean It, Man!: War, Punk's Bastard Children & Beaver Power
    Feb 26 2026

Eugene Hütz of Gogol Bordello and their new record We Mean It, Man! isn't just a clever name. Raised on punk rock and all that came after it in Kyiv, Ukraine, the band - merging punk, gypsy music, techno, post-punk and more - brings electric energy musically and conscious power lyrically.

Eugene reflects on friends fighting on the frontlines in Ukraine, the spiritual resilience of people at war, and what it means to "make life possible again" after devastation. We talk Joe Strummer, Nick Cave, Bernard Sumner, Fela Kuti, post-punk lineage, and the alchemy of working with legendary producer Nick Launay.

From punk scenes in Kyiv built on smuggled tapes with no chronology, to the philosophy of protest, rebuilding after catastrophe, and why beavers may have done more good for the planet than humans - this is a conversation about music as frequency, resistance, inheritance and survival.

  • Karnivool's In Verses: Musical Acupuncture & The Return of Aussie Prog Power
    Feb 5 2026

After 13 years away, Perth progressive powerhouse band Karnivool return with In Verses - a record that once again demonstrates the raw emotion, precision and profound rock power that has made them one of Australia's most beloved rock exports.

In this episode of We Wreck Records, the beloved Aussie rock icons talk about starting out in Australia's most isolated city, the sometimes hilarious making of this exquisite suite of songs, the records that taught them how to feel and why their music is like acupuncture - hitting all the right pressure points for the people that have followed the band for decades.

From "sad boy music" and prog fans quietly weeping in the front row, to the patience required to finish a record on their own terms, this is a grounded, honest conversation about endurance, connection, and why In Verses had to be made.
