  • Your Gut Is A Hormone Organ
    Sep 25 2026

Bloating that hijacks your evening isn’t just “something you ate.” If you wake up feeling fine, eat a normal day of meals, then end up heavy, foggy, and unbuttoning your jeans on the drive home, your body may be trying to tell you something bigger about gut health, stress, and hormones. I’m Dr. Jordan Trapp, and I’m walking you through how to read those signals without falling into food fear or another round of random elimination diets.

We start by redefining what the gut really is: a microbiome packed with trillions of microbes that influence digestion, nutrient absorption, immune function, neurotransmitters like serotonin, and hormone balance. Then we zoom in on the gut hormone connection using estrogen as the clearest example, including how estrogen is supposed to be cleared and how certain gut bacteria can reactivate it through beta glucuronidase. If you’ve dealt with PMS, heavy cycles, mood swings, PCOS, or endometriosis patterns, you’ll understand why this pathway matters, even if it’s not the whole story.

Next, we connect the dots on the gut brain connection and the way stress and cycle shifts can change digestion like clockwork. I also demystify the GI Map stool test: what it measures, what it can reveal about microbes, digestion, inflammation, immune markers, and gut permeability, plus who actually benefits from this kind of functional testing and who doesn’t. Finally, we get practical with gut basics that move the needle: fiber and plant variety, eating in a calm state, chewing, consistent meals, and a simple three day tracking exercise to spot patterns before you buy another supplement.

If you’re tired of feeling bloated and foggy and want real clarity, listen now, share this with a friend who needs it, and leave a review so more people can find the show. What symptom are you most ready to understand?

  • PCOS and Birth Control: Is The Pill Actually Treating It?
    Sep 2 2026

We break down why so many people with PCOS get a prescription without an explanation and why that leaves you carrying the burden of your own diagnosis. We explain what the birth control pill can genuinely help with, what it cannot treat, and the exact questions to ask so you can get real monitoring instead of endless refills.

    • why PCOS is a whole-body endocrine and metabolic condition, not a cyst disease
    • how PCOS is diagnosed using the Rotterdam criteria
    • the two key drivers: androgen signaling and insulin resistance
    • why lean PCOS is real and often missed
    • what the pill does for symptoms: ovulation suppression, higher SHBG, uterine lining protection
    • why a withdrawal bleed is not proof of a working cycle
    • what the pill does not address: insulin signaling and long-term metabolic risk
    • why hormone and androgen labs are unreliable on birth control
    • the provider script: fasting insulin and glucose, lipid panel, possible washout, rule-outs, and a monitoring plan

If this episode hit home and you need help with your PCOS, figuring out if you have PCOS, handling the metabolic side of your PCOS, there is a link in the show notes to a free 15 minute consult.

  • A Normal Thyroid Test Result Can Still Mean Something Is Wrong
    Jul 13 2026

“Your thyroid is normal.” If that sentence has ever made you feel crazy while you’re running on empty, we get it and we’re not letting it slide. Today we walk through why a single screening lab can look fine while you still deal with fatigue, brain fog, weight gain, feeling cold, mood shifts, digestion changes, and hair loss that won’t quit.

We start with the basics of thyroid function and then get very specific about testing. TSH is important, but it’s a pituitary signal, not the actual thyroid hormone your cells use. We explain the difference between free T4 (largely a storage form) and free T3 (the active, usable hormone that often matches how you feel day to day). You’ll also hear why conversion from T4 to T3 can stall with chronic stress, inflammation, nutrient deficiencies like selenium, zinc, and iron, and even gut issues.

Then we zoom out to the autoimmune side of thyroid health. Thyroid antibodies (TPO and thyroglobulin) can be elevated for years before TSH ever moves, which matters for people with Hashimoto’s who want earlier clarity. We also touch on reverse T3 as a potential “brake pedal” when symptoms persist. Finally, we talk about normal versus optimal lab ranges and why your lived experience deserves to be taken seriously, plus a word-for-word script to ask for a fuller thyroid panel: TSH, free T4, free T3, and antibodies.

If this helps you feel seen, subscribe, share it with a friend who keeps getting dismissed, and leave a review so more people can find it. What’s the one symptom you wish your labs explained?
