Über diesen Titel

From Joseph Fink and Jeffrey Cranor, creators of the genre defining fiction podcast Welcome to Night Vale, comes the new LA noire Unlicensed, starring Molly Quinn, Lusia Strus, and T.L Thompson. Unlicensed follows Molly Hatch (Quinn), recently divorced, two years sober, and completely lost on where to go next in her life. On a whim she answers an ad for an assistant to a PI, traveling to an unpromising strip mall on Citrus Avenue in Azusa, CA, where she meets Lou Rosen (Strus). Lou is a brilliant detective, but she’s also a completely disorganized mess, both in her physical space and within her own mind. She loses evidence, forgets what she’s already figured out, and she hasn’t even gotten it together to get her PI license. Working illegally in the outskirts of Los Angeles, where the cul-de-sacs and strip malls sprawl into the desert, the only clients she can get are those who either can't afford anyone else or have cases that are too marginal for licensed PIs or the police to bother with. When a teenage girl pleads for Lou and Molly to take the strangest case of their career, they find themselves involved in something much bigger than they were prepared for. This unlikely pair, with no resources and no back-up, follow a trail of seemingly unconnected cases, which leads them to a ransom, a murder, a mysterious wellness center, and a conspiracy that might go all the way to the governor. Featuring guest appearances by Jason Segel, Janet Varney, James Urbaniak, Cecil Baldwin, Jasika Nicole, Mara Wilson, and more, Unlicensed is a deeply-human, captivating thriller set in the most uncool neighborhoods of America’s coolest city.©2022 Joseph Fink and Jeffrey Cranor (P)2022 Audible Originals Krimis Thriller

Came here because I‘m a long time liste er of night vale. Was not sure what to expect but loved it! I really enjoy detective stories and the way this was narrated was such a refreshing take on the genre! Can‘t wait for more.

Loved it so much!

This is such an engaging and well-scripted story, with likeable and interesting characters who stay just this side of Noir-tropey, a story arc full of twists and turns, and a crime setup which keeps you guessing at whodunnit, and even whatdidtheydoanyway? Can’t wait for Season Two!

So good, so immersive!

Great writing, amazing performances and an eerie story. Everything my heart desires! Thank you writers!

I can't believe they waited 10 years

If you're familiar with Welcome to Night Vale, you know the stories and characters that Fink and Craner usually come up with - I expected this podcast to be more surreal than it was. But after adjusting my expectations, I binged through the episodes quickly and enjoyed them thoroughly.
I like that the first few episodes each contain one case that gets solved while the last few episodes focus mainly on the overarching plot / case. I just love Lou and how brilliant and flawed she is.

I really hope this gets a second season!!!

Could have even been weirder

I thought the acting and storyline were done so well! The quality is definitely consistent with Jeffrey Cranors other works!

Loved it!

I love the story telling and world bulding! The writing is amazing and truly captivates you, staying interesting until the very end. I would listen to this over and over again without getting bored

Absolute Slay

I really loved it. I know the usual audience expects "weirder" from the creators but I disagree - stands very well on its own with great characters and actors!

Highly enjoyable

The voice acting is okay, but not overwhelmingly good. Also, some of the characters' voices become hard to bear after a while due to excessive "voice crackling". The story itself is interesting as a concept, it is however presented in a way that is just exhausting. It seems like the writers tried so desperately to try out something "new" with their storytelling that they lost their grasp at the bigger picture, resulting in a story that puts a spoke in its own wheel. Endless monologues. Forcefully "quirky" personalities. Conversations barely "flow".
