This is a disturbing trend that is happening weekly, if not daily: a man kills his entire family and then himself. 44-year-old Alan Smith was reportedly kicked out of his Billings, Montana home, but came back with a gun during dinner and murdered his sister, her four children, his parents and his 90-year-old grandmother in a wheelchair. He then set the home on fire and took his own life as police were approaching. In the middle of his rampage, his 12-year-old niece was able to call 9-1-1, where dispatchers heard gunfire in the background. Unfortunately, it was too late by the time police arrived, and unfortunately this summer has proven to be among the deadliest in family mass shootings.

It was another contentious day in court that once again, ended abruptly after the state’s rebuttal witness began to testify to children’s inherent “strong will to survive’. The defense immediately objected and, after a sidebar, the judge told the witness to step down and called it a day for the jury. This, after defense attorney Kevin Reddington continued to aggressively cross examine the prosecution’s expert witnesses who have testified Clancy was “morally aware” her actions were against the law and that she was NOT in a state of psychosis.

In her new lawsuit, which is a hell of a read, Brittany Boltinhouse claims pageant officials “maliciously coordinated to publish a narrative portraying her as a racist, homophobe, transphobe, and intolerable bigot.” She takes zero responsibility for her past actions, and instead is asking for an unidentified sum of money for her “excruciating reputational destruction.”

A horrific story out of Pennsylvania: an 18-year-old college freshman brutally stabbed to death in her own vehicle, by her own boyfriend. 18-year-old Royce Moser told police a demon took over him and told him to stab Karoline Heintz after a late night argument. Moser then called his mom, who reportedly admitted to helping her son cover up the crime, cleaning up blood from the car and her son’s clothing, then throwing away the murder weapon. Both mother and son are now in custody facing multiple charges.

We are learning more about the most recent, horrific mass murder involving a man taking out an entire family, and then taking his own life. Police say 36-year-old Benjamin Parker murdered his girlfriend, her mother, her grandmother, her best friend and boyfriend, along with the family’s pets and then drove 200 miles and killed himself. Parker had been living with the group in rural Oregon and right now, police have no motive for the crime.

The forensic psychologist who set off a firestorm in the courtroom on Monday will be back on the stand today. The judge ultimately ruled against a mistrial, but admonished the prosecution and instructed the jury to disregard Dr. Helibrun’s testimony about “mortal sin”. Testimony resumes today, first with Helibrun - and we can’t wait to hear how defense attorney Kevin Reddington handles any further questioning of him - and then with the state’s final rebuttal witness. We could see closing arguments as soon as Wednesday, and Lindsay Clancy’s fate should be in the hands of the jury by midweek.
